Mark Gathen is Vice President of Content Acquisition at Cox Communications. With over 25 years of experience in the cable television and advanced video industries, he has seen firsthand how consumer demand for video products has evolved. In his current role, Mark leads content negotiations for Linear Networks (including VOD and TV Everywhere), Applications, Subscription VOD, and Digital Video carriage across multiple Cox platforms. Prior to his current position Mark successfully managed key video initiatives at Cox including launching Digital/HD Video, VOD, DVR and expanding video platform features and functionality. He also was an industry leader in TV Everywhere strategy, design and product launches allowing Cox to be a trailblazer in that emerging video category earning a CTAM Rainmaker Award in recognition. Always looking ahead to “what’s next”, he partners with traditional and emerging content providers to define new video product opportunities for the digital marketplace. Before joining Cox, Mark worked on new media strategy and innovation projects at The Weather Channel, where he was on the forefront of development including the initial design and launch of weather.com. A recipient of two video technology patents, Mark received his Master of Science in Management degree from Georgia Tech and holds a Bachelor of Science in Television & Radio Communications from Ithaca College.
